Namesake Reflection

I personally think that Namesake is a very interesting novel from what I have read so far. It shows the deep personal connection with the culture that there were originated, and the culture of the environment that they are living in. The inherited culture is different from what they are currently learning through their lives. Gogol and his family is in the same situation. Gogol is from Bengal but the culture that has influenced Gogol is not the same as where he is originated.

In the story, Gogol first starts with the Bengal culture, but as I am reading I can see that the culture is getting interrupted by other culture that is more dominant in the society and gradually changing the cultural aspects of Gogol. This is a very obvious factor in someway, but a factor that may have affect on the entire family line. As Gogol gets older, he thinks more of the culture that he is influenced as different, and he begins to lie more towards the environmental surrounding cultures.

So far, I am very curious about the rest of the story. This story is in someway realistic, but unlike non fiction novels, it is very appealing to me because the story line and the plot is very interesting. Also, the story contains not only fun parts, but also reflects the lives of Bengal people who are influenced by other cultures. I enjoy very much reading the book, and hope to learn more about each cultures and the influences in it.
