Review of 'The Joy Luck Club'

For me, the Joy Luck Club was like watching a documentary of lives of Chinese mothers and daughters. It was very realistic. Amy Tan has describe the settings of the individual places very well. She gives the readers every single piece of puzzle piece so that we can imagine the whole picture. Each character had a different personality and a completely different life. There were themes for every different story.

I really enjoyed reading this story because it was new every time. I am the type that can not keep of with something for a long amount of time, but since the Joy Luck Club presents a different event for each chapter, it was exciting to read every one of them. Although it was confusing, with the broken English and with some Chinese, but, this may be because I am an Asian , but it is somewhat relatable to me and my ancestors.

I think even if this story took place long time ago, it was very relatable to me. This story would probably keep in a high status even after 30 years has passed, since I believe the belief mothers have for their daughters will not change forever.
